Red Mercury Pty Ltd ("Red   Mercury") is committed to adopting the highest standards to safeguard our customers' personal information.   Red Mercury, like other companies operating in Australia, is bound by the National Privacy Principles as set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What Personal Information does Red Mercury collect and why?
Red Mercury collects personal information about you and your business in order to provide personalised wireless telecommunications and information products and services.

The personal information you provide to Red Mercury will enable us to make offers of products and services to you. The type of personal information we collect may include your name, address, telephone numbers, e-mail address, information on how you use our products and services (such as the type, date, time, location and duration of calls, messages or other mobile communications, the numbers you call and how much you spend, information on your browsing activity when visiting one of our websites), information about your arrangements with other providers of telecommunications and information products and services and information about your personal preferences. This information helps us to issue accurate bills and also helps us develop products and plans to suit your needs.

Red Mercury collects your personal information when you provide it directly, as well as from public sources, business cards and third parties such as those identified below under "Sharing your Personal Information".

How Red Mercury may use your Personal Information
The personal information you provide Red Mercury may be collected, used and disclosed for a number of purposes connected with our business operations, which include:

  • processing your orders or applications
  • providing you with products and/or services requested
  • for billing or administering your account
  • dealing with requests, enquiries, changing details such as username, passwords and plans or complaints and other customer care related activities (e.g. adding / removing insurance; global roaming; special instructions to your account)
  • carrying out market and product analysis and marketing our products and services and those of Vodafone generally
  • contacting you about Vodafone's and our associated companies' products and services
  • registering your details and allocating or offering you rewards, discounts or other benefits and fulfilling any requests or requirements you may have in respect of our and Vodafone's and our associated companies' loyalty or reward programmes and other similar schemes
  • purposes relating to any third party acquisition or potential acquisition of an interest in Red Mercury or its assets
  • activating and deactivating services and barring for lost or stolen SIM
  • carrying out any activity in connection with a legal, governmental or regulatory requirement that we have to comply with or in connection with legal proceedings, crime or fraud prevention, detection or prosecution

We may also use your personal information for purposes related to those described above which would be reasonably expected by you. For example, we may use your personal information to keep you informed about features of Vodafone's and our products and services or conducting analysis in order to provide better service to you.

When and how can you opt out?

If you wish only to receive communications that are account-related or legally required, you may request not to receive any other communication (e.g. marketing materials). To opt-out, please email unsubscribe@redmercury.com.au with your request or call us on 1800 637 818.   Please note that we will still need to send you essential information about your account or changes to your service.

Sharing your Personal Information
Red Mercury may disclose or receive personal information or documents about you to/from:

  • our associated companies
  • parties involved in any third party acquisition or potential acquisition of an interest in Red Mercury or its assets
  • law enforcement agencies to assist in the prevention of criminal activities
  • our service providers who assist us in providing our services, including organisations that assist us with archival, research, mail and delivery, auditing, legal, financial and business advisory, banking, security and technology services

We will take reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information we collect, use or disclose is accurate, complete, up-to-date and stored in a secure environment protected from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.


How to access   or correct your Personal Information
Upon your request, Red Mercury will take reasonable steps to let you know, generally, what sort of personal information we hold, for what purposes and how we collect, use and disclose that information.

Upon your request, Red Mercury will provide access to your personal information we hold, except in certain prescribed circumstances, including emergency situations, specified business imperatives and law enforcement or other public interests.

Once you have registered as a Red Mercury customer, you may access your account details and correct your personal information, by contacting Red Mercury on info@redmercury.com.au or 1800 637 818. If you are not a customer of Red Mercury, you may still request access to any personal information Red Mercury have collected from you.


Additional information for users of our Website

If you visit www.redmercury.com.au (the "Website") to read, browse or download information, our system may record information such as the date and time of your visit to the Website, the pages accessed and any information downloaded.
